The reknowned German automaker BMW has been caught testing a motorcycle which could most probably compete with the Ducati Multistrada for being a highly multipurpose (or rather, multi-terrain) premium motorcycle in the world. The BMW S1000F will be Bavarians' much awaited answer to Multistrada and will be based on their flagship motorcycle, the faired S1000RR. It is expected that the bike will make its first public appearance at Intermot 2014 in October.
The motorcycle is reported to have borrowed the S1000RR's powertrain detuned to match up with the character of the bike. The peak power of the bike should be around 150bhp, and its delivery pattern altered compared to the faired supersport sibling. Baring the heart, the motorycycle will have the same exhaust, but a taller suspension and comfortable posture.
Apparently, the design cues are also borrowed from the S1000RR and no doubt, it looks no less than the bikes it will be placed against, namely,Ducati Multistrada, Aprillia Caponord, KTM 1190 adventure and the likes. Although, the company already has the much successful hardcore adventure bikes placed under the tag of GS series, this bike will be targeted to the more premium customers wanting a single all-purpose motorcycle which can be comfortably ridden everywhere, be it a city, an offroad trail, plush highways or a racetrack.
Like the S1000RR, the S1000F will come with lots of gizmos such as Dynamic Damping Control, Traction Control, ABS, Ride-by-wire, Different engine mapping for different modes. Looks promising to compete against the yet undisputed winner Multistrada? Tell us your opinion on the bike.
