Part motorcycle, part car. Its Polaris Slingshot! Price, Details and Video.

Part motorcycle, part car. Its the Polaris Slingshot! Celebrating their 60 years of innovation, the American ATV maker unveiled this three-wheeled roadster. If Polaris is to be believed, this high-performance automobile represents the future of on-road driving. This futuristic vehicle will take your breath away with its chiseled and muscular bodywork and pump up your adrenaline to new heights with its exhilarating performance. Its a motorcycle with certain attributes of cars such as wide  front body, side seating arrangement, wide set of wheels shod with low profile rubber. Whereas the open air cockpit, single wheel at the rear and the unobstructed 360 degree view ensure the motorcycle-riding like experience.

One of their high officials describing this new product says, "Slingshot was designed to deliver head turning exhilaration on two dimensions. First is the exhilaration that you can see, hear, and feel while riding in Slingshot. Second is the exhilaration you feel when people turn their heads to stare at Slingshot’s unique and exotic styling." The automaker also claims that the low centre of gravity, sport spec suspension and wide chassis makes it a cornering junky.

On the specs front, this exotic roadster is powered by a GM's 2.4 litre dual-overhead cam engine producing peak power equating 173 horses and ground sweeping 225Nm of torque for a low-slung vehicle which weighs as low as 770 kg. All thanks to high strength steel spaceframe, a lightweight aluminum swingarm fo keeping the weight so low. Coupled with a mind blasting acceleration and astounding cornering abilities, it also possesses modern gizmos such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), Traction Control and ESP (Electronic Stability Program). However, Polaris clarifies that the Slingshot is put into the motorcycle category. So, there are no airbags and the vehicle is not designed to meet the automotive crash standards. The rider and the passenger need to wear helmets and the driver needs to hold a motorcycle driving licence.

Although this adrenaline pumping futuristic roadster is destined to only US of A till now, its cost translates to roughly around 12 lacs in Indian Currency for standard variant and 14.5 lacs for the Slingshot SL. Atlast, I leave you with this official promotion video of Polaris Slingshot to get high on it. But don't forget to share your views and opinion on this part motorcycle, part car vehicle in the comments section below.
