Bajaj Auto to unveil most expensive, technologically advanced 100cc bike in January

COIMBATORE: Bajaj Auto will come out with the most expensive and technologically advanced bike in the 100 cc segment in January, a top company official said today.

"Besides being the most expensive motorcycle in the 100CC segment, it will also be technologically most advanced bike," Bajaj Auto President (Motorcycle Business) K Srinivas told reporters here.

However, he refused to reveal the price tag, saying the price is not the news, but technologically most advanced is.

Currently, Bajaj Auto sells 100cc bikes under the Platina and Discover range, which are priced between Rs 38,990-44,497.

The company had claimed in September that its Discover model had overtaken Hero MotoCorp's Splendour as the world's largest selling motorcycle, with sales of 1.22 lakh against Splendour's 1.21 lakh.

Bajaj homologates the KTM 200 Duke for Motorsports in India.

Bajaj Auto has homologated the KTM 200 Duke with FMSCI (Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India). In effect this means that you can now officially use the Duke 200 for racing or rallying. The homologation comes in just before the Raid De Himalaya, one of the toughest rallies in the world, where we believe the bike should perform well. The Duke had already made its debut in the Mughal Road Rally this June – it secured a win on debut there – and the official homologation should see the motorcycle gain immense popularity in the motorsport fraternity. The Duke 200 has impressed enthusiasts with its dynamics, and has proved to be one of the most exciting launches of 2012. Given that Austrian manufacturer KTM boasts of a phenomenal heritage in motorsport, more so in motocross, it was a natural choice for Bajaj Auto to decide to homologate the motorcycle.
